Victorian Fisheries Authority

As of 1 July 2017, Fisheries Victoria is becoming a new Statutory Authority known as the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA).

This a great outcome for fishing in Victoria and will boost our ability to drive participation in recreational fishing and investment and jobs for commercial fishing and aquaculture.

All services that Fisheries Victoria currently offer will continue as per normal but with a greater ability to drive development, investment and participation.

The establishment of the new fisheries authority was a key government election commitment driven by support from the Victorian fishing community.

The new authority will be led by an independent board and take an integrated and collaborative approach to the management of fisheries resources.
