Great Fishing around the NSW DPI FADs

Early autumn has brought some great fishing around the NSW DPI FADs. Check out this fantastic bull (male) Dolphinfish from the Coffs Harbour FAD caught in early March. Male or ‘bull’ dolphinfish are easily distinguishable from their female or ‘cow’ counterparts due to the large, pronounced square shaped hump that grows over a flat forehead.

Remember FADs can be located up to 30km off the coast so check the latest weather forecast before venturing offshore.

To be sure to stay updated with FAD positions and ensuring they are still on station, use our FishSmart NSW mobile app – this is updated as soon as we are aware FADs have moved or when they are replaced.
