Caught with 28 Undersized Fish

Two men were apprehended in possession of 28 undersize fish as they fished from a boat on Botany Bay, near Sydney NSW.

An initial inspection of the boat found seven legal size fish in a bucket. NSW DPI Fisheries Officers asked the two men if any other fish were on the boat – both men said no.

Officers searched the boat and located 28 undersize size fish consisting of 21 Snapper, 5 Sand Whiting, 1 Yellowfin Bream and 1 Dusky Flathead.

Most of the fish were hidden in plastic shopping bags, under the floor of the boat. The rest were found tucked away, out of sight at the rear of the boat.

A number of fines were issued to the two men and the 28 fish were seized.

Fishers need to be aware of NSW size, bag and possession limits for every species of fish they catch.
